The Flash Mob: What’s Up With Barry’s Myspace Hair in “The Once and Future Flash?”

Recommended Videos

Rise and shine, Team Flash, and welcome to another edition The Flash Mob! It’s been a while but we are back and ready to recap last night’s episode. For those who are unaware, this is an open thread which means spill all your thoughts about the current season in the comments below. But beware! There be spoilers all up in these parts. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

So last night’s episode saw Barry traveling to 2024 (but more like 2004 if we’re going by Future Barry’s Myspace hair) in order to find more information about Savitar. He runs into a ridiculously good-looking but also super sad Cisco who is just excited to see his friend again. As it turns out, Iris was killed by Savitar and Future Barry went off into hibernation mode causing Team Flash to split up. Wally is somehow comatose and paralyzed, Joe is still grieving, and Julian is keeping Killer Frost locked up in a “humane” cell for reasons. Oh, and Cisco’s hands were frozen and then shattered so now he has Anakin hands and can no longer vibe. Ouch.

In the midst of all this loss and despair, HR Wells is somehow thriving as an author of the erotic sort and planning to check a very important thing off the life goal list. (Hint: Britney Spears released a whole song about it.) Was that included because Tom Cavanagh directed the episode?

Anyway, I guess the point is that Barry is the center of everything and it all falls apart with him not around. The team does reunite when Past Barry rounds them up (though isn’t it technically kidnapping?) to take on…the Mirror Master? Yep. Whatevs, he was defeated with help from Future Barry who finally decided to emerge from his glass case of feelings and Future Team Flash vowed to work together again. Hurray!

BUT, the most important thing we learned in this episode is that Killer Frost teams up with Savitar. Wait, whaaaaaaaaat? Things just got really interesting. With that said, I have a few burning questions:

  1. Will Iris actually die this season?
  2. Isn’t this the third straight season of a masked speedster hellbent on destroying Barry?
  3. Who did that to Future Barry’s hair and why? Explain yourself.
  4. When will Barry learn to stop messing with time travel? Didn’t we spend the previous seasons talking about how dangerous that is?

What did you think of “The Once and Future Flash?” Fun Fact, it was written by Carina Adly MacKenzie who also works on The Originals.
