The Anthem of a Bad Night: Concertgoer Busted for DUI After Stealing Ambulance at Good Charlotte and Avenged Sevenfold Concert

A 24-year-old concertgoer was arrested after reportedly stealing an ambulance outside a Good Charlotte and Avenged Sevenfold concert in Phoenix, Arizona, driving it a short distance and crashing into another vehicle. Grace Vicente was later charged with DUI and vehicle theft, turning what was supposed to be a night of live music into quite the unplanned encore.
As reported by NME, the incident unfolded at around 11 p.m. on August 27 outside the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre. An ambulance had been called to the venue during the concert, and its crew reportedly left the keys inside when they exited the vehicle.
Vicente allegedly got into the unattended ambulance and drove away before crashing into another car nearby. Police detained her following the collision, bringing her extremely short-lived career as an ambulance driver to an abrupt end.
The Ambulance Didn’t Make It Very Far
The presumed joyride may have been brief, but another person was caught in its path. The driver of the vehicle struck by the ambulance was taken to a hospital following the crash, though authorities said their injuries were not life-threatening.
Meanwhile, Vicente was arrested and charged with DUI and theft of a vehicle, making this one concert souvenir that definitely wasn’t available at the merch table.
Vicente’s attorney later told local outlet AZFamily that she had traveled to Arizona specifically for the concert. The lawyer also described what happened that night as “completely out of her normal nature.”
Considering most people’s post-concert plans involve finding their parked car or waiting painfully long for a rideshare, leaving in an ambulance certainly qualifies as an unusual departure. Some people steal BMWs, this one steals an ambulance.
That’s Not Usually How You Leave a Concert
The Phoenix show was part of Good Charlotte and Avenged Sevenfold’s co-headlining U.S. tour, which began in Missouri on July 25 and concluded in Los Angeles on August 30.
Neither band appears to have had anything to do with the incident beyond performing at the venue where Vicente had reportedly been attending the show. The real-world drama unfolded outside, where police were left dealing with one of the most unusual ways to end a concert.
Most importantly, the collision did not result in life-threatening injuries, despite an ambulance itself becoming involved in the crash. Vicente will now have to answer to the charges stemming from what authorities allege happened that night.
Good Charlotte may have spent decades singing The Anthem to countless audiences, but stealing an ambulance, crashing it, and ending the evening with DUI and vehicle theft charges is one concert itinerary that can take a bow.
