Texas Woman’s Car Broke Down Every Time She Got Into an Argument With Her Boyfriend. A Tow Truck Driver Told Her Why
She drove away for good.
Gina Montana (@theginamontana) from Texas has been trying to drive away from her boyfriend after their heated arguments. Conveniently, however, her car always broke down whenever she tried to get away. But after telling a tow truck driver about the strange situation, he unraveled the mystery for Montana.
“My ex and I, we used to get into these fights. And me, I’m a walk away-er, like, I’m not gonna sit here and argue with you,” Montana told TikTok. She preferred the non-confrontational route. While her boyfriend never hit her, the arguments were notably intense.
One day, Montana recalled arguing with her boyfriend over something. The fight got so heated that she drove away from him. She didn’t try to run over him, unlike this other woman who got tattled on by a nosy neighbor to the cops.
“And I don’t know if this man thought that I wasn’t gonna leave, or what—I don’t know what he was thinking,” Montana commented. It was also normal for her to take a walk around the neighborhood after a fight. She assumed her boyfriend would understand why she drove off, but he seemed to have taken issue with her frequent flight.
The next time they fought, and Montana had her car, she walked out on her boyfriend again. She thought, “I might not come back,” enraged at him. She stormed off, but when she got in the car and turned the key, the car didn’t even sputter.
A strategy to keep her
“The car don’t even want to turn on,” Montana recalled. Her boyfriend told her that he needed to fix her car and that she should get back inside the house. After two or three hours had passed, her boyfriend checked up on her, and her anger had already waned. She would be crying and emotionally exhausted, and he would end up consoling her through her range of emotions.
All he asked was for Montana to stay instead of walking away during their fights. He would also encourage her to talk things through instead of abandoning him. Since she was practically trapped without her car, she would agree. Miraculously, though, her car would start again after the argument. Her boyfriend even offered to get them some food.
“And I used to think, like, [expletive], this is such a good man,” Montana said. She used to be impressed with how he fixed her car even after a bad argument. But after the same thing happened three or four more times, Montana started growing suspicious of her boyfriend. She worked at a gas station where tow truck drivers often hung out. When she mentioned what had been happening with her boyfriend and car, a driver revealed a possibility to Montana.
The driver told her about her starter fuse
“That [expletive] be taking your starter fuse off,” a driver alleged. She asked for clarification, and the man asked her if the car turns on.
“Do it turn on after y’all fix your problems?” the driver asked, and she agreed. The driver told her to pop her hood, and he taught her about the starter fuse box. He also told her how to fix her car once her boyfriend was out of sight.
“I started an argument for no [expletive] reason,” Montana said. She wanted to test the theory. But mid-argument, she saw him briefly leave before going back to fight her again. She assumed he took the starter fuse out. When she finally got to her car, he asked if she wanted him to fix it. She refused and waited until he got back inside the house.
“I was like, Mission Impossible—I popped that [expletive] hood, pulled the fuse box top off, popped the [expletive] starter fuse,” she narrated. Then her car roared to life, and she put it in reverse. She saw her boyfriend whip the door open, looking flabbergasted that she had figured out the mystery. But some exes take it a step further, interfering in their former partner’s lives even though they’ve long broken up.
