Texas Father Orders His Family Takeout From DoorDash. Then He Looks Through His Ring Camera and Finds the Driver Butt Naked: ‘Just Sick’
That was very unexpected.
A father in Houston, Texas, was spending time with his daughter when they decided to order takeout through DoorDash. But he later found himself appalled when he discovered his takeout was delivered by a completely naked man.
The incident reportedly happened on Aug. 24 while Kiante Matlock was at his home near Homestead, per FOX 26. He said he was playing video games when his young daughter, who was with him at the time, alerted him that he had received a phone notification from DoorDash saying their order had arrived.
Matlock says he went to look at his Ring camera to check if the food had been dropped off before heading to the front door. However, he was in for a shock when he reportedly saw that the DoorDash driver assigned to deliver the order was head-to-toe naked on the footage.
The father couldn’t believe what he was seeing
In the video shared, the DoorDash driver can be seen dropping off the order without his clothes, not even wearing shoes, before taking a photo to complete the delivery. A few seconds later, he turned back to return to his vehicle in a nonchalant manner, as if it were just another normal delivery routine for him.
“[When] I looked, I say, ‘[Does] buddy got a onesie on?’” Matlock told the news outlet. “I tell you not, [when] I opened the camera and looked… Buddy is completely naked.”
According to Matlock, the DoorDash driver was already gone by the time he arrived at the front door. “I didn’t expect nobody to show up and drop my food naked, which is crazy,” Matlock said.
Aside from food safety concerns, Matlock said the entire incident also made him worried for others who might have witnessed his nudity while making deliveries. “There could’ve been an underage child coming to the door or a woman. And you exposed out like that… It’s just sick,” Matlock said.
DoorDash driver immediately banned for vulgar behavior
Following the incident, DoorDash told the news outlet that such reports are taken seriously and have swiftly removed the driver from the platform for violating its community guidelines. “What this consumer experienced was abhorrent, and we’ve reached out directly to offer our support,” the company said. “This man’s behavior was vulgar and completely unacceptable, and as soon as we were made aware, our team permanently removed their access to our platform. We do not tolerate sexual harassment or misconduct of any kind, and we stand ready to assist law enforcement with any investigation.”
DoorDash also encouraged its users to immediately make a report should they find themselves in a concerning predicament, and it would be reviewed by the company’s Trust & Safety team. For concerns about their immediate safety, DoorDash encouraged users to contact the authorities.
Similar to DoorDash’s statement, the Houston Police Department also urged residents to file a report if they encounter a person displaying inappropriate behavior. They also advised residents to preserve any evidence, such as camera footage, to help with the investigation. Depending on the circumstances of the incident, there is a possibility of criminal charges.
While Matlock often uses DoorDash for order deliveries, he claimed to have decided not to eat the food due to the nature of how it was delivered and discarded the items instead. DoorDash also issued the father a full refund.
