Taraji P. Henson Calls for Unity in Hidden Figures SAG Awards Acceptance Speech

Hidden Figures may have gotten surprisingly little love in the acting categories despite a Best Picture nomination for this year’s Academy Awards, but the Screen Actors Guild awards felt a bit differently. The cast pulled down the award for outstanding performance by a motion picture cast, and Taraji P. Henson gave a fittingly inspiring and motivating speech on their behalf.

The awards show was as politically charged as you’d expect after the inauguration of a new president, especially one who many in the entertainment industry disagree with—and on a weekend when so many protesters across the country were, themselves, uniting to fight Donald Trump’s executive order on travel, immigration, and refugees.
