Kevin Costner is In Superman; Superman is a “Physical Cat”

It Came From Outer Space

Chalk this up as your oddly worded statement of the day. Zach Snyder would like us all to know the hero of his Superman movie has “got things to figure out, but he’s a physical cat.”

…we’re going to interpret that as meaning that we won’t get a film focused so much on the cerebral as Superman Returns and that it will have more punching and lifting.

In other news, Kevin Costner has joined the cast, and the movie is definitely a reboot.

Costner will be playing the role of Jonathan Kent, Superman’s adoptive father, alongside Diane Lane as Martha. In addition to casting news, Snyder has also given us a few simple but comforting clues about the movie, including that it is definitely a reboot: no Christopher Reeve continuity here.

On the subject of costumes, he said

We’re going to have to show it before we shoot, probably a while before that because [otherwise] someone will be on the set and get a picture of it.

Well, it’s nice to see some concessions to the inevitable.
