Superman to Have an Actual Face Now on Season Two of Supergirl

Recommended Videos

If you’ve been getting tired of the myriad ways in which Superman is-but-isn’t-quite included on Supergirl, we’re about to get a lot more actual face time with the Man of Steel. Superman is actually going to be on Supergirl. Like, for realsies. Like, Superman will actually be a character on the show! With a face!

According to Variety, Supergirl is currently casting the role. No word yet on possible frontrunners for the role, or if there are any actors with name recognition even being considered, but according to a statement from the production, Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg confirms that not only will Superman be an actual character, but that they’re wasting no time bringing him into their second season on The CW:

“Greg, Ali and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”

I’m excited about this! I’ve said in the past that I really wish they’d do less with Superman, because I wanted Supergirl to stand on her own as an independent hero. However, if they’re going to have Superman be a factor in her life, I’m glad they’re no longer shying away from his actual, physical presence. Clark is Kara’s family. It makes sense that they’d interact in person, especially since they can both, you know, fly.

So…let the speculation begin! Who do you think should play The CW’s Superman?
