What’s a girl gotta do around here to get some LEGO sets? Not order them from Amazon, apparently.

The Super Mario LEGO set is hot right now, with Mario and LEGO fans alike flocking to get in on the action. Many people are opting for the convenience of Amazon, rather than buying straight from the LEGO site itself.

However, one woman has had some especially bad luck when purchasing the set from Amazon. She’s now going viral for sharing her experience on TikTok.

‘This is just super disappointing’

In a video first posted in Dec. 2025, which has since accumulated over 13,000 views, TikToker BlackcatBruja (@blackcatbruja) shared her immense disappointment after an apparently botched Lego delivery.

“Y’all, I am so upset,” she begins in her video. “This is a PSA to please check your packages from, like, retail stores from Amazon before you gift them.”

BlackcatBruja goes on to explain that she had used Amazon gift cards to help buy a gift for her husband, and that the gift was discounted thanks to a Black Friday “super sale.” She then flips the camera to show the box for the Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi LEGO set, which clearly looks like the gift she thought she ordered.

“The box looks completely fine,” BlackcatBruja says, still showing an apparently appropriate-looking box for the gift she wanted. “It was, like, sealed like a normal LEGO box, but when you open it, look at what’s inside.”

Lo and behold? Not a single Mario LEGO in the box.

“So inside are not the LEGO pieces, but these random assortment of, like, Twizzlers and Cheetos,
random Legos and sandwich bags,” BlackcatBruja says, showing us said assortment. “It looks like there’s a LEGO set too—Godzilla Kong. That looks like that might be what that LEGO set is. And then this random Willy Wonka Funko. So this is just super disappointing.”

BlackcatBruja says Amazon did, in fact, pledge to refund her money, but she expressed frustration at the sloppiness of it all. She also thinks the switch-up was intentional.

“Someone must have, like, saw the box … somewhere in the distributing center,” BlackcatBruja theorizes at the end of her video. “Like, switched out the set … So just make sure you’re opening your toys, your boxes before you gift them, so that you don’t run into the same thing.”

Commenters commiserate with BlackcatBruja

Lego fans were, unsurprisingly, horrified by BlackcatBruja’s story. Enthusiastic collectors started experiencing doubts about their own purchases—and they recommended buying straight from the source instead.

“I have over 60 boxes of legos not opened,” one viewer commented. “Makes me want to open every box.”

“Official Lego site would never,” wrote another fan.

Other viewers wisely theorized that the debacle was owed to a botched return, with an Amazon seller even confirming their guesses.

“As an Amazon seller, thats a good chance a previous customer switched before returning the warehouse and robots dont check packages,” the seller commented. “I have received returns when customers try to be slick. This is the reason why Amazon and other stores are adding return fees.”

Ultimately, BlackcatBruja’s story is not unique. Multiple commenters racked up likes sharing their own Amazon mix-ups, from junk-filled coffee makers to fraudulently resealed perfumes.

“My victorias secret new perfume had Finery perfume from Target inside,” one such commenter wrote. “Used one too. they took the VS perfume out & resealed the box. I am still mad about it.”

@blackcatbruja I had seen that this was happening, people really do ruin things. At least it was gift cards from work that can be easily refunded. @Amazon @LEGO #amazonscam #amazon #scam #legos #somad ♬ original sound – ??BlackcatBruja??

What to do if Amazon delivers the wrong package

Right address, wrong package; right package, wrong address. These kinds of mixups happen all the time with Amazon and similar retail deliveries. So what happens if you, like BlackcatBruja, did in fact order something but you received the wrong items in the mail?

Your first order of business should be to contact Amazon customer service. Make sure to select “a delivery, order, or return,” and then select which order was faulty. Report that the wrong item was delivered, or select “Get help with something else.”

If you still aren’t able to get your desired result, you can always use the Amazon live chat option to speak with an associate. Make sure to have pictures ready of the inside of your package, so you can prove that you’ve received the wrong items.
