I think it’s bold of The Amazing Spider-Man to push the accomplishments of the Spider-Man franchise further than they’ve ever gone. After three movies of Mary Jane being captured by villains and dangled over perilous heights, movie makers have decided to cut out all the fussy plot stuff and villain origins that it takes get there and just have Peter Parker dangle and save Gwen Stacy his own damn self.
