South Carolina woman arrives for a Sam’s Club pickup order. Then staff breaks her car and no manager will take responsibility: ‘This is unacceptable’
Some errands leave more behind than a receipt

Curbside pickup is supposed to make grocery shopping easier. But one South Carolina woman says a simple Sam’s Club pickup left her worrying about damage to her car instead.
TikToker Charlie (@charliethe1_421) says she went to a Sam’s Club in Rock Hill to collect her order. While pickup is meant to save customers some time, Charlie claims things went wrong when an employee began loading several cases of water into the back of her car.
Charlie showed the alleged damage in a TikTok video. She claims she had already told the employee that all three cases of water would not fit in the back and was helping him load the order. But according to Charlie, the worker put them there anyway, leaving her car damaged and Charlie struggling to get someone at the store to address it.
Then things got more frustrating
Charlie explained that she had three cases of water in her order. She wanted only two placed in the back because she already had jumper cables, extra clothes, and softball equipment there. The rest of the groceries could go elsewhere in the vehicle.
However, Charlie alleges the employee stacked all three cases in the back and pushed them inside. “He literally took the water out, slammed it so hard,” she recalled. She then pointed to different parts of the car that she believed had been damaged during the loading.
Charlie initially believed the worker had damaged the hinge and bent another part near the rear of the vehicle. She also demonstrated the problem while trying to open the back of the car. At the time, she had no idea how much fixing it would cost.
“I don’t think that’s gonna be cheap,” Charlie said. “I don’t know how you even fix any of that. Like, this is unacceptable.”
Getting someone at Sam’s Club to address her complaint allegedly became another problem. Charlie claims she called the store and asked to speak with a manager, only for an employee to hang up on her. She tried several more times but said the calls ended the same way.
Charlie eventually contacted the auto department and explained why she needed a manager. She was told she would be transferred, but according to Charlie, that did not happen either. Instead, she was allegedly told she would need to call back the following day.
The situation was especially frustrating because Charlie described herself as a college student who needed the car to get to work. When getting help with a pickup order becomes difficult, going directly into the store can sometimes be the only option left. That was also the advice many viewers gave Charlie.
“Girl, GO INSIDE,” one commenter wrote. Another advised, “Go up there and talk to a manager BEFORE getting your car fixed,” while someone else suggested, “Call corporate and take pictures.”
Some viewers were less sympathetic. One commenter questioned why Charlie had not cleared the back of her car before pickup, writing, “Why the hell you going to do an order pick up and not have your trunk cleaned?” Others focused on the damage itself, with one simply saying, “That is not difficult to fix.”
Charlie later returned with an update. She took viewers’ advice, went inside the Rock Hill Sam’s Club, and spoke with three managers. This time, she claims she finally got a resolution. “They’re paying for it,” Charlie said.
She reported that the damage amounted to $618, explaining that the car’s springs had been bent and both parts of the latch were broken. Charlie said she was thankful Sam’s Club was “doing the right thing” and covering the repair.
Charlie said she does not know what happened to the employee but hopes he is doing okay. Her advice to others using grocery pickup was simple: “Be careful. Be very careful.”
