The mysterious, and female, Enfys Nest from "Solo: A Star Wars Story"

Solo: A Star Wars Story Delivers a New Female Villain in Enfys Nest

Recommended Videos

While our feelings are decidedly mixed with regard to the upcoming Star Wars anthology film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, a bit of news has emerged that is very relevant to our interests.

As reported by Star Wars News Net, a French publication has revealed that the until-now mysterious and masked new villain in the film, Enfys Nest, is a woman.

The French reads, “Enfys Nest, an extremely dangerous marauder, has quickly forged an infamous reputation for herself and her gang of pirates – the Cloud Riders.” Until now, rumors either had her as a bounty hunter a la Boba Fett, or a rival smuggler. Now we know she’s the leader of a gang of pirates. No matter what, she’s here to make Han Solo’s life way more difficult.

It’s pretty awesome that the newest villain being introduced into the Star Wars universe is female. After all, when we’re talking about nuanced female representation in film, we’re not just talking about female heroes. We need to see all types of women in all sorts of situations and with all kinds of motivations. We need more than just flaws in our female heroes, but we need more female villains who make no bones about having ambition and doing whatever it takes to achieve their goals.

This new piece of information almost makes me care that Solo is coming out! Almost.

What do you think? Are you excited for Solo: A Star Wars Story?
