‘Sleeping sickness is about to finish him’: The President of the United States thinks Greece is a terrific guy’

If you ask me, there’s something very exciting about not being able to predict someone’s next move, even when you know them well. The same applies to United States President Donald Trump. Since starting his second term last year, Donald Trump has appeared publicly many times, speaking on a wide variety of topics. Many, myself included, might think they understand him or how he thinks, and even predict what he will say next, but apparently, that’s not how it works with him.
A clip is currently going viral on the internet, especially on X (formerly Twitter), from Donald Trump’s recent press briefing in the Oval Office. In about 15 seconds of footage, Trump can be seen discussing Greece and calling it a “terrific guy.” This has led many to believe that Trump mistook Greece for a person and referred to it as such. However, if you watch the full video on YouTube, you’ll see that this isn’t the case. The interpretation that he was referring to Greece as a person was just a result of Trump speaking incoherently, and people taking his words literally.
Clip featuring Trump shows him referring to Greece as a person
Someone who is not familiar with Donald Trump’s speech patterns or style of speaking might be confused by half of what he says. A similar incident happened recently when Trump, while speaking with a journalist, said something that people took at face value. Though not entirely his fault, this gaffe from Trump gained significant attention online, with many making fun of him. So what exactly did he say that sparked so much discussion?
During a press briefing at the Oval Office on April 23, 2026, a journalist told Trump that Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in a published article, had said that he was rooting for Donald Trump to secure a deal with Iran. The journalist also mentioned that Mitsotakis was looking forward to welcoming Trump to Greece later this year and asked Trump for his response. Trump replied, “No, it’s it’s really nice. I mean, Greece has been very supportive. Actually, Greece has been terrific. He’s a terrific guy because he understands the importance of it.” It’s understandable why people thought Trump was calling Greece a “terrific guy,” especially since he does not mention Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the line after mentioning “Greece” in the previous line.
In other news, the man who attempted to assassinate Trump has been charged
On April 25, 2026, during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, an assassination attempt was made on Donald Trump. The main suspect identified was Cole Tomas Allen, who, allegedly, had plans of eliminating as many Cabinet officials as possible, including Trump.
As of this writing, according to updates by BBC News, Cole Tomas Allen has been charged with three counts: attempted assassination of the President of the United States, using a firearm during a crime of violence, and transportation of firearm in interstate commerce with intent to commit a felony. If found guilty, Allen faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment for the first charge and up to 10 years for each of the other two charges.
