It wasn't worth the wait.

She booked one of the best wedding venues in the world in Sicily. A year later, and she’s scrambling for a different venue

Louisa Galante was ready to get married in Sicily, Italy, for her destination wedding. But despite her diligent planning, the venue’s unexpected closure left her scrambling at the last minute.

Galante told TikTok that she got engaged in February 2025. She decided to get married in Sicily, Italy, making it a destination wedding. To prepare, she had her wedding planner contact the venue of her dreams. Galante said she had her eye on it even before she got engaged.

“The second I get engaged, this is where I wanna get married,” she commented. When her planner reached out, Galante said the venue’s management told them they weren’t currently taking inquiries. They allegedly told Galante that she had to wait until November to even inquire about the place. If she did, Galante said she wouldn’t know until then whether she could reserve a date for her wedding.

“It’s not even definite. It’s all just a chance that you have to be willing to take. And this place is worth it, so I wait,” Galante said. By September 2025, she decided to go to Italy and view the venue. While there, she also decided to take a look at other potential spots for her wedding.

“I fall even more in love with the venue,” Galante expressed. When she asked the tour guide, she was told she would still have to wait until November if the date she mentioned was available. In addition, the tour guide allegedly said they couldn’t tell whether anyone was ahead of her or whether anyone else had inquired about the venue for that month.

She was determined to have her wedding in that venue

“Now, of course, I was slightly turned off by this. But this is a very prestigious wedding venue. It is one of the top wedding venues in the world, okay?” Galante said. Although she felt left in the dark, the venue’s allure appealed to her. She said every big wedding Instagram page she looked at had featured the location, too. Although the booking process was shrouded in secrecy, Galante assumed other important and famous people were booking it.

“Because even my parents wanted me to get married there, because it just so happens to be fifteen minutes away from where my grandparents were born and raised,” Galante added. When November came, Galante got a call from the venue. They informed her that the date she had in mind was available, and she was ecstatic. She said she spent the rest of 2025 up until 2026 planning the rest of her dream wedding. Unlike some unfortunate brides who got ghosted by their vendors on their wedding day, Galante had time to prepare and perfect her event. She chose the right vendors, booked them in advance, and got the dress she wanted.

A sudden change of plans

But then, in 2026, she got a call from a family friend in Sicily. Galante said their friend called her nonno to tell him their granddaughter’s wedding venue had shut down. At first, Galante couldn’t believe it, since the wedding venue management allegedly didn’t inform her immediately.

“Pages and brides are still posting like nothing is going on,” Galante claimed. Even her wedding planner allegedly said that she wasn’t informed. Panicked by the rumor, Galante started reaching out to her connections in Sicily to get to the bottom of the matter. She alleged that all of her connections told her that they’d heard about the venue’s abrupt closure.

“I know it’s true for a fact,” she said. Only a couple of weeks later, the venue allegedly told Galante about their predicament. Management allegedly claimed they were going through a trial and that Galante’s wedding “may or may not” push through in June 2027.

“But here’s the thing: I live in America, and so do all of my f****** guests, except for a few that live there. We need flights, we need hotels, we must move on,” Galante said. She is now changing her plans and replanning her wedding. Even though her wedding venue fell through, at least her groom didn’t back out at the last minute, unlike another unlucky bride.
