Rovio CEO Set Up by GDC Panel Question About Physics Engine, Gives Appropriate Answer

Recommended Videos

As Joystiq reports, during a panel at this year’s Game Developers Conference, Peter Vesterbacka, the CEO of Rovio, had the following exchange with a participant in the audience:

Audience Member: What physics engine did you use for Angry Birds?

Vesterbacka: Box2d.

Audience Member: Would you be willing to credit it?

Vesterbacka: Yes.

Audience Member: I’m the creator of Box2d.

Yep, the audience member turned out to be Erin Catto, the creator of Box2d. Vesterbacka said they would credit Catto if Catto could meet up with them to discuss it after the panel. So, Vesterbacka was being set up, but answered positively before the blindside. Fun story.
