It’s never too early to start that Rogue One hype, is it? Answer: no. The latest thing to come out of the rumor mill is an apparent breakdown of Forest Whitaker’s Rogue One character. It’s been known for a while that he would be playing a part in the movie, but he hasn’t been revealed in any promotional materials (yeah, the one photo) or anything.
According to rumors from fansite Making Star Wars, Whitaker will be playing a “good guy” character. Apparently he’s not featured in the “main good guy” lineup because he’s playing a bounty hunter, if these rumors are to be believed–and we all know where most bounty hunters fall in the Star Wars universe, don’t we? So much grey area.
There are also some details about his appearance, suggesting that he might be playing a war veteran type of character, with robotic legs who walks with a cane. Okay, that sounds pretty cool, but… a cane? That’ll be interesting. There could be some truth to these rumors, as Whitaker is no stranger to grey-area killers and action heroes (see: Ghost Dog). He could also have the war veteran thing down pat thanks to Platoon.
Oh, and he has a cape! You know how we feel about capes.
What do you think about these rumors? What kind of character do you think Whitaker should play?
