As part of an official promotion for Alien: Covenant and their own show’s long-awaited third season, the Rick and Morty team made this short in which Rick and Morty receive and respond to a distress call from the Covenant crew. Once on board the ship, they’re attacked by one of the famous facehuggers, and Rick defeats the creature in oh-so-Rick fashion.
Now, although this is sponsored content, do we take it as canon? Given all the time jumps and alternate universe trips on the show, I think this trip to the world of Alien: Covenant fits right in, but I’ll understand if you feel differently.
I’m also sure that this has further whetted some readers’ appetites for Season 3. We still don’t have an official date for the premiere of Rick and Morty Season 3, but we do know it will air on Cartoon Network at some point this summer. Alien: Covenant, however, comes out on May 19 in the United States, so you won’t have to wait as long for that one.
