‘Practical Magic 2’ Takes Us Back to the Owens Sisters in a Stunning New Trailer

In the age of sequels it can be tough to cast a spell on audiences, but if the newly released trailer for Practical Magic 2 is anything to go by, the follow up to the 1998 movie is set to be a hit.
The film, being produced by Warner Bros., was confirmed back in 2024. It is scheduled for release in the States in September of this year, and audiences have finally got their first look at Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock as they return as Gillian and Sally Owens.
The movie is set 25 years after the end of the first film, in which the sisters overcame a family curse and learned to love their magic. Despite the star power of its joint leads, Practical Magic was critically panned at the time, but in recent years it’s gained a kind of cult status thanks to the stellar performances of its stacked cast (which included Dianne Wiest) and feminist themes, which is why there has been so much interest in the latest installment.
In the sequel, Sally’s youngest daughter Kylie (played by Emmy nominee Joey King) discovers some uncomfortable family secrets that go back centuries to the origins of the Owens family’s magic. As she begins to show her own abilities (not all of them positive) the family faces yet another crisis that leads them across the Atlantic to the United Kingdom, and hopefully save the Owens family from certain doom.
Aside from the returning cast, Practical Magic 2 also stars Maisie Williams (who is no stranger to the fantasy genre), Lee Pace, and Cobra Kai‘s Xolo Maridueña. The film was mostly shot in the U.K, with principal photography taking place at the legendary Leavesden Studio, where the GoldenEye, The Phantom Menace, and the Harry Potter series were filmed, as well as plenty of scenes in London and Devon.
