Well, we already had some unofficial confirmation, what with Rebel Wilson telling the L.A. Times that she’s already signed to do it. Now, we have word that Pitch Perfect 3 is officially moving forward!

Writer Kay Cannon, who wrote the first two films in the Pitch Perfect franchise, is currently in negotiations for writing the third film. However, there’s no word as to whether or not co-star Elizabeth Banks will return to direct (we hope so!).

Pitch Perfect 3 is going to be a more expensive proposition than the first two! What with the first film being so successful and the actors’ fees going up for the second film (particularly Wilson, since Fat Amy became so popular), this next one will likely cost a pretty penny. They apparently haven’t locked in options for Kendrick and Wilson, so their money is still up in the air. Luckily, they locked in Hailee Steinfeld for another installment when she joined the last film.

Looking forward to the next chapter!
