‘It’s not creepy’: New York woman leaves downtown Saratoga grocery store. Then an old man asks her something shocking

A New York woman notices an old man making eye contact with her in a Saratoga grocery store. He stops her to ask a question and she can’t believe what he says his “new hobby” is.
In a video with over 16,000 views, TikToker Jiana Rose (@jianarose02) sits in her car and recounts the awkward interaction near Franklin Market.
“This old guy is following me around the grocery store and proceeds to follow me to my car,” she says. However, she didn’t assume any bad intentions at first.
“I’m still thinking, ‘Oh, he’s so sweet.’ I’m like smiling at him,” she continues.
When he tells her he has a question, she assumes he plans to ask her for help crossing the street. His response shocks her.
“He goes, ‘As I’ve gotten older I’m really getting into new hobbies…Do you want to come over and I paint. I’d love to paint you nude,'” she recounts. “I actually froze.”
The old man doubles down when she rejects his request and insists that he’s “not creepy” and hands her his business card.
How did viewers respond to his odd request?
In the comments of her TikTok, viewers react to the old man’s bold question. Some share how they would have responded.
“I thought he was going to say crocheting but he just went right for it,” one jokes.
A second remarks, “Paint me like one of your French girls jack.”
“Should’ve inquired if it was a paid gig,” a third suggests.
One woman even suggests that the same old man approached her with the request at a different location. She writes, “THIS GUY DID THIS TO ME AT UNCOMMON GROUNDS.” The TikToker responds, “NO WAYY!!”
Where do legit artists find models for nude painting?
While many viewers agree that the old man’s question jarring and inappropriate, nude painting is a legit form of artwork. However, most nude artists go about looking for models differently.
There are several websites, like Croquis Cafe, where artists can pay a subscription fee for access to nude images. The models in the images consented to have their body viewed and drawn by artists. Other models may also contract with larger groups of artists, especially on college campuses or art centers, to pose for a live drawing or painting session.
Artists on the r/artistlounge subreddit share their suggestions for finding willing nude painting models.
“If you can afford it, call art schools/universities and ask if they can forward an email requesting models for such and such a date. I teach privately and this is how I’ve found the majority of my models. Private art schools are more responsive,” one writes.
Another suggests, “I belong to community painting groups, so we share the model costs.”
