Oklahoma man accused of stealing copper dives headfirst through window to escape deputy: ‘Missed his calling as a Hollywood stuntman’
So much for a clean getaway.

An Oklahoma man accused of stealing copper from a vacant home attempted to escape arrest by diving headfirst through a closed glass window, leaving a deputy stunned. Body camera footage released by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office captured the dramatic moment, including the suspect’s sudden dash toward the window.
The incident occurred when deputies responded to a reported burglary at a vacant property on Sunset Lane in Oklahoma County. According to local reports, a deputy found a man allegedly removing copper from appliances inside the home.
The suspect was later identified as 24-year-old Rayven Lee Wooten, according to reports from abc7, when the deputy confronted him and ordered him to comply, Wooten instead made a break for the window.
The suspect chose a window over following the deputy’s orders
The footage shows the deputy ordering Wooten to turn around and get on his knees. The deputy warns him, “You’re not listening,” before telling him to get down.
Instead of complying, Wooten runs around the room and launches himself headfirst through a closed glass window, shattering it as he escapes. The deputy reacts with a startled expletive before reporting over the radio that the suspect has fled on foot.
The escape initially worked. According to Aaron Brilbeck, a spokesperson for the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy had never encountered anything quite like it. “This is an experienced deputy, he’d never seen anything quite like it before, and by the time that he got outside, our suspect was long gone,” Brilbeck told KOCO.
The deputy attempted to locate the fleeing suspect using his patrol vehicle. He also deployed a drone to search from above, but neither effort immediately located Wooten.
The suspect left behind the one thing that could identify him
Wooten’s escape attempt reportedly came with an overlooked detail: He left behind his backpack, which contained his driver’s license. A bicycle was also found at the scene. The identification helped authorities establish who they were looking for, despite the suspect’s initial escape.
“He was good enough to leave behind his backpack, and inside the backpack was his driver’s license, so it made it really easy to identify him,” Brilbeck said.
The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office also poked fun at the unusual getaway in its social media post accompanying the footage, writing that the suspect had taken the phrase “make a break for it” a little too literally. The office added that he had “missed his calling as a Hollywood stuntman.”
This is not the first case of a suspect’s attempt to flee police after an alleged vehicle theft. The case joins other unusual burglary stories, including the Florida woman who admitted to breaking into more than 200 homes.
Wooten faces charges including burglary, resisting arrest and obstructing an officer, according to published reports. The footage has since circulated online, drawing attention to an escape attempt that left the deputy with a broken window, a missing suspect and an unexpectedly useful piece of abandoned property.
