Oh No, Looks Like ICE Employees Are Struggling To Pay Bills
Recently, it surfaced through Reddit that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is being accused of failing to pay salaries and activate health insurance weeks after recruitment, among other things. The agency that recently had a historic push to recruit anybody and everybody is now failing to pay its employees their salaries and health insurance? Who could have ever guessed this?
After that historic recruitment–that saw 12,000 agents added on–it appears that ICE is not holding down their end of the bargain, and employees have taken to Reddit to air their greivances.
In the subreddit, titled r/ICE_ERO, ICE officers describe things such as going a month or more without a payment, struggling to secure medical coverage for sick children, and watching their sign-on bonuses never materialize as promised. Oh no! Anyway.
Screenshots began circulating online, gaining traction on social media sites like X. However, since the subreddit has since gone private, we are left only with what has already been documented. It’s like the saddest lost media, because there’s no way I’m attempting to join that subreddit.
Other posts also complained about officers’ confusion about bonuses and pay schedules. One noted that they received a bonus of around $6,000 after taxes, but complained that deductions reduced the net payout to $5,000. Another user said, “Monday is four weeks since I started and I haven’t been paid yet.”
The writing is on the wall…and they can’t read
I mean…did these officers really think that this administration was going to pay them fairly? Everything they’re about is cutting corners and scamming everybody that they can, which often unfortunately happens to be the vulnerable. Not that anybody willingly signing on to this iteration of ICE is vulnerable. They’re glorified violent bullies halfway through the process of embodying Nazi ideology (if they don’t already).
“Current president is the man famous for failing businesses and not going under because he refuses to pay people who worked for him. Yeah I’m sure that check’s in the mail!” said one user on X.
I can’t keep living through historic events anymore. I’m tired!
