Zoey 101 Trends as Nickelodeon Fans Argue Over Best Live-Action Sitcoms

Zoey 101 is trending after some Nickelodeon fans decided to settle an ages old debate. But is Jamie Lynn Spears’ TeenNick staple really better than iCarly?
That very question is the one that @1keezybaby set out to determine once and for all. If you were watching Nickelodeon through the late 2000s, you’ve seen the Miranda Cosgrove teen sitcom. But, the network was absolutely littered with examples from this genre in those years.
Despite iCarly’s enduring meme potential, it’s surprising to see so many people discussing Zoey 101. It’s never had quite the Internet impact of the show it’s being compared to. But, it keeps popping up in some really strange ways over the last couple of years.
As Cash argues here, Zoey 101 is a different animal than iCarly. For starters, “Zoey 101 wasn’t focused as much on comedy like iCarly was.” And this gem from @barbiefye has to get shouted out too. Because, who didn’t want a Tek-Mate cell phone thingy after seeing the show.
One factor that keeps getting mentioned amidst all this discourse is the fact that Jamie Lynn Spears got pregnant and her show ended soon after that. Nickelodeon contends that this was always the plan for Zoey 101. But, you can see from this fan response that people are more than a bit skeptical about that claim.
While we’re extending her all this grace maybe we should have been as focused on getting justice for her sister at the same time? Just a thought!
Zoey 101 has another day in the sun?

While it might be fun to have these remember when moments framed around mid 2000s favorites on Nickelodeon. There’s no question that certain sexual misconduct in these projects has to be addressed. It can’t be just nostalgia and T-Mobile SideKick apologia.
Zoey 101 was created by Dan Schneider, the man at the center of the landmark documentary series “Quiet on Set.” Released in the last few years, the show tells the story of how Schneider manipulated and traumatized a lot of these young Nickelodeon actors. (The producer also created iCarly.)
Matthew Underwood starred alongside Jamie Lynn Spears in the Nick favorite. His long Instagram post about people prying for insights about his time at the network is probably worth reading!
Hoping for a better future
“We all want to live in a better world. That requires all of us to treat each other with empathy and not make assumptions about people’s personal experiences,” he wrote. “We’re all feeling pain right now, and I can understand if you are angry, but harassing people who maintain their privacy and wishing death upon their families is no way to make this world better and safer for all of us. #QuietOnSet”
“To ensure there is no confusion, I want to make it clear that my current agents Lauren Green and Sam Hampton of Modern Artists Entertainment are incredible humans who are sincere, genuine, and smart professionals in this industry,” the star continued. “They have always listened to my concerns and watched out for my well being. I want to thank Lauren Green for literally having my back since I was 8 years old. The only period of my life that I wasn’t represented by her, was the year and a half I had this shitty experience with this other agent. If it wasn’t for Lauren and Sam, I would never have been on a screen again. ”
