New Pac-Man Run Blows Old World Record Away

Got your eyes on a Pac-Man world record? Well, your already unrealistic dreams just got a little more unrealistic. Dave Race of Ohio just recently blew the old world record out of the water by completing a perfect game in 3 hours, 33 minutes and 12.69 seconds. That’s almost a full minute (55.31 seconds) faster than the previous record, also held by Race. Basically, if you’re not Dave Race, good luck.

If you’re wondering what a “perfect game” of Pac-Man is, it involves reaching the limits of the scoring system. If you can get a score of 3,333,360 in the 255th level, the game will invariably crash, making for a handy endpoint. The run in question was played on a classic stand up machine, as the rules specify, and can be watched — in its entirety — over on RecordSetter.com, if you’re into that sort of thing. Be warned though, it’s 3 hours, 33 minutes and 12.69 seconds long. Longer actually, but not by much. If you can sit through the whole thing, you deserve some kind of record of your own.
