The Woman She Matched With on a Dating App Wouldn’t Agree to FaceTime. Then Someone From Cybersecurity Found Out Why: ‘It’s a Man’
"Catherine" turned out to be quite the multi-tasker.
AJ (@isitgay) told TikTok that when she was nineteen and fresh on dating apps, she matched with a woman, whom she called Catherine. But when AJ asked to hop on FaceTime, the woman refused and even stood her up last minute on their date.
“I’ll just have her pick me up, because it’s a woman. She’s not going to kill me,” AJ said, recalling the trust she placed in the woman. After a month of talking, AJ said they decided to meet up, even though Catherine always had an excuse to avoid FaceTime calls.
“And then she was also messaging me from an email account and not a phone number,” she pointed out. Nevertheless, AJ was enamored by her match and didn’t suspect anything. When their supposed meeting came, hours flew by.
“I ignored the red flags up until that point, but when she didn’t show up, I was like, ‘Hmm, maybe I should consider those flags a bit.’ So, I looked up her name,” AJ said. After texting her date and getting no response, she looked up Catherine’s name on Facebook. Catherine only had six friends on Facebook, which AJ found suspicious.
She decided to message a few of them and asked how they knew Catherine. One woman said she met Catherine on a dating app, and the two other girls said the same thing.
Why ‘she’ was saying no to FaceTime
AJ said, “I think this is weird because all of her friends know her from dating apps or people that were on dating apps. And I’m just getting a really weird feeling because I just got stood up.” AJ got flaked on by her date, like this woman from Michigan who got ready for a man who was more interested in dirtbicking being with his girlfriend. Nevertheless, AJ opened up about her situation to someone who was Facebook friends with Catherine. That woman allegedly decided to help AJ unravel Catherine’s identity.
“I am in cybersecurity, just give me that email,” the woman allegedly said. AJ gave the email Catherine uses to communicate with her, and from there, the woman reverse-tracked the email. Then, AJ received a call from Facebook Video, and the cybertracker announced her disturbing findings.
“I’m sorry, I just needed to see your face as I tell you this,” the cybertracker allegedly said, adding, “It’s a man.” Catherine wasn’t a woman, and AJ was horrified. But the cybertracker AJ was speaking to further claimed that she knew who the man was in real life. He was her dormmate, and to make matters worse, the cybertracker also confirmed that the man has a girlfriend.
Meeting his match
AJ broke the news to the other women from Catherine’s profile. One of them allegedly claimed that the man is her boyfriend. This woman is apparently a best friend of a lesbian woman, and that lesbian woman matched with “Catherine” on the dating app. But AJ noticed that the woman’s name didn’t match the name the cybertracker gave her, implying that the man was not only faking being a lesbian but was also cheating on his girlfriend with another woman.
“Now I have to tell this poor woman that not only is her boyfriend pretending to be a lesbian on dating apps, but he also has another girlfriend,” AJ said. The woman was allegedly devastated, but AJ didn’t leave it at that. She decided to haunt “Catherine” by using all the information she got on him.
AJ texted “Catherine,” telling him she knew that his real name is Joshua. She decided to list everything she knew about him, and AJ said she got instantly blocked. But then, she decided to get his phone number and leave him voice notes of his supposed crimes. AJ told him she deceived her by pretending to be a lesbian and shamed him for double-timing two other women. She also started listing off personal experiences and information only he and his close circle were supposed to know about.
Then, the cybertracker and his two girlfriends got campus security involved, and they took down his door. “Bro was crying. His life flipped upside down,” AJ said of the man’s state when the women found him. At the very least, AJ didn’t expose him online, unlike another woman who turned the tables on her stalker by posting about him on TikTok.
