New Orleans woman went to Costco for gas. She’s now filing a claim to fix her car
She was a regular at Costco.
Ashley Webb (@ashleywebb576) from New Orleans, Louisiana, went to Costco to refuel. But a day after refilling her tank, Webb noticed an issue and took her car directly to the mechanic.
“I am a creature of habit. I go to the same place and pretty much to do certain things, like get gas,” Webb told TikTok. She alleged that the following incident took place at Costco, 3900 Dublin St, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Webb said she has only gone to Costco for the past two and a half years for premium gas. She emphasized that she also went to the same pump. On September 23, she said she filled up her car’s tank and drove home.
“Got in my car this morning, was driving, and my car was pooling,” Webb alleged. She also said her car sensors started blinking while driving. When she noticed the issue, Webb claimed she brought her vehicle to the car shop. The mechanic replaced her sensor. But when she drove again, he realized it wasn’t the problem. Unlike this woman with an ex who messed with her starter fuse, Webb said her car’s issue is in the fuel tank.
“Nothing but water is coming out of my car. The gas in my car is water,” Webb alleged. She returned to Costco to file a damage claim against the company. Webb stitched a video of her car hood open. The mechanic connected a bottle of water to the end of the fuel line. When she started the engine, the fuel tank started spouting a clear substance.
Did Costco compensate her for the repairs?
The mechanic held the bottle up to the camera, and it looked like it was full of clear water. Webb’s post went viral on social media. One TikTok user said they went to the same Costco location, and their car also started showing the same symptoms as Webb’s. Several others also came forward and shared that they had the same experience at Costco. Like Webb, some of these commenters confirmed that they also filed claims. Meanwhile, some social media users appreciated Webb’s warning, saying they had plans to refuel at the location until they saw her video.
Webb later posted an update, saying that someone from Costco reached out to her. The representative told her they would take a sample from Webb’s fuel tank, as she refueled on the 21st and 23rd of September at the same Costco.
Webb stated, “I had actually went there that Monday, the 21st, and I had filled my tank up to full.” Because she was in the area and didn’t want her fuel tank to be half-full, Webb refueled again on the 23rd.
“So, they’re going to test both those days, and they’re going to get back with me,” Webb said. She also got in touch with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry, and they will also send a representative to get samples from Webb’s fuel tank. Webb said the government agency will send the sample to a chemist for a breakdown of the substance in her vehicle.
“That does give me some comfort, knowing that I don’t have to only depend on Costco’s findings,” Webb added. This was her last update regarding the issue. She has not yet updated her social media regarding the substance found in her car.
