Do We Actually Have Information About the New Life Is Strange Game?

Recommended Videos

Last month, the creators behind the hit Dontnod/Square Enix game Life Is Strange announced that they are indeed currently working on a new Life Is Strange game! Today we have some news that needs to be taken with a huge grain of salt as it falls firmly into rumor territory, but should provide some fun speculation fodder as we wait for additional, official announcements. **Turn back now if you want to go into the new game completely unsullied.**

We’ve been loving playing and writing about Life Is Strange here at TMS. It’s not a perfect game, but its certainly a compelling one, in no small part thanks to the amazing characters. You become invested in the lives of Max and Chloe, as well as the rest of the students at Arcadia Bay’s Blackwell Academy. So it’s interesting to hear that the next game in the series won’t actually be a continuation of the story, but rather, a prequel.

Polygon reports that leaked images from the new game have appeared on Imgur along with speculation that the new game is a prequel that follows Chloe and Rachel (remember? Her best friend whose death was the catalyst for the events in the game?). Check it out:

[EP5 SPOILERS] A prequel about Rachel and Chloe is being developed. Here are some leaked screenshots and concept art.

They’re from an anonymous source, so who knows how legit they are. For all we know, these could be a fan’s really great fan art. That said, the images do show us some interesting things, from the evolution of Chloe’s look, to possibly the first time she met Rachel, to tender moments shared with Rachel that are awfully similar to those shared with Chloe.

And, of course, there’s the big question: if this is a prequel, does that mean no Max Caulfield at all? Well, this being a timey-wimey kind of a game, I wouldn’t rule out Max just yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if Chloe had to make decisions about whether or not to follow time-traveling Max, or what to tell Rachel. Is the story we experienced in the first Life Is Strange game as inevitable as it felt then? Or could all of that have been changed?

What do you think? How would a Chloe/Rachel prequel even go? Do you think time travel and decision-making will be involved at all, or do you think they’ll totally change the gameplay up? Tell us what you think in the comments below!
