Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

New ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Promo Shows Familiar Faces, New Monsters

So.Much.Is.Happening.

A brand new promo for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just dropped, and while it’s short it is jampacked with new details about the upcoming film. Part of the fun of a Marvel cinematic universe sequel is seeing which Avengers will roll in to join the fun. We’ve already seen Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in action in previous trailers, and we know that she is a major player in helping Strange fix the multiverse he previously broke. Strange tells Wanda, “The multiverse…it’s life or death…we could use an Avenger”. Wanda tells him “There are other Avengers,” but Strange quips, “We’ll get you back on the lunchbox.”

It’s been over a year since we last saw Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision. The series ended with her evolution into the Scarlet Witch, and her self-imposed exile with the Darkhold (a powerful book of spells), which saw her exploring her newfound powers. We also saw a post-credits scene where Wanda hears her twins Billy and Tommy cry for help as she studies the Darkhold. But will the Book of Sins play a role in Multiverse of Madness? According to WandaVision prop designer Russell Bobbitt, the props team from Multiverse of Madness helped design of Darkhold. He added that it was important for the book to look like it came from the Kamar-Taj library.

Kamar-Taj itself appears in the promo clip. The home and training grounds of the Masters of the Mystic Arts becomes a battle ground, where we see Wanda and Wong fight alongside one another. Karl Mordo returns to seek revenge on Strange, and a new CGI monster make an appearance.

Many online are speculating that the monster is Chthon, the elder God of Chaos. Chthon wrote the Darkhold, and gives its readers powers in exchange for their souls. Will Chthon tempt Wanda to the dark side by promising her access to her long lost twins? Eagle-eyed fans guessed as much.

We also catch a glimpse of a powered up America Chavez and Strange’s snazzy new blue suit. There’s going to be A LOT going on in this movie, and we’re excited to see what happens within the Multiverse of Madness. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6. Tickets go on sale next week on April 6.
