We’ve come a long way since the days when a standalone Punisher series on Netflix was just a rumor—in terms of developments, at least. In terms of time, it actually hasn’t been that long, since Daredevil‘s second season only debuted about seven months ago in March, and that quick movement is no surprise given that we now know the show will be ready for streaming at some point in 2017.
That raises some other questions, though, in regards to the rest of the Marvel/Netflix schedule. We already know that Netflix doesn’t want to exceed two Marvel shows in a year, and Iron Fist is already on the way in 2017. Does that mean we’ll have to wait until 2018 for Defenders, and who knows when for additional seasons of existing shows that were supposed to arrive in 2018? (*Cough* Jessica Jones *cough.*)
We’ll just go ahead and hope they’re bending that rule and putting a third show out in 2017. Iron Fist is out in March 2017, so there’s still plenty of the year left after that for the other two shows to arrive. In the meantime, they’ve also added new members of the Marvel family, with Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia) as Billy Russo—Frank Castle’s best friend—Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls) as former NSA analyst Micro, and Amber Rose Revah (Indian Summers, Son of God) as Homeland Security agent Dinah Madani.
Well, we did need more new things to watch now that we’ve all already binged Luke Cage. Twice. At least.
