Mr. Poopybutthole is basically the quintessential Rick & Morty character, in that you can’t explain him to anyone who doesn’t watch the show. Starting with his very name and his ooh-wee catchphrase, along with the fact that we weren’t sure he even existed because he appeared alongside a legion of fake memories implanted by parasites.

If you remember, the last time we saw Mr. Poopybutthole was at the tail end of the season two finale, where he was recovering from being shot by Beth, who assumed he was just the creation of those aforementioned parasites. If she could watch this video, though, I’m sure Beth would seriously regret doubting his existence. Given how long we usually have to wait between Rick & Morty seasons, this brief clip is a welcome gift.

As it turns out, this character is very real, with a rich, long life full of memories kept in a scrapbook he shares with us. Watch as he graduates high school, gets married, um … destroys the federation, grows his family. There are happy memories and painful ones. It’s like the opening to up, but starring a character named Mr. Poopybutthole. It’s very, very Rick & Morty.
