Miner in Sierra Nevada hears unexplained music coming from an area in the tunnels: ‘I need your help’
He doesn't know where the music is coming from.

Miner Discovery (@miner.discovery), run by a man who claims to be a miner, shared an unexplained encounter at a Sierra Nevada mine. He recorded the phenomenon and uploaded it to TikTok.
In his video, captioned “I think this mine is haunted,” the unnamed man asks strangers on social media for advice. “Please stop scrolling if you can help me figure out a fricking terrifying mystery,” the man said on TikTok.
“I’ve been mining—hard rock mining from the 1860s. It’s right there,” he said, panning to a small mine beneath a house. He claimed the sizable house, perched on a small hill, was built in the 1920s and is now abandoned. He clarified that he didn’t find the house “scary,” even though it was uninhabited.
“I’m in an area which was known for mining way back over 150 years ago. There’s nobody up here—I’m kind of up here by myself, and I’ve been doing this for a couple of weeks. We’ve been making progress, but I would like your help, because there’s an area in the mine that I cannot explain,” the man said. He added that no cars pass through the area.
“In any mine, there’s a point where it breaks off, which is where they would put storage,” he explained. It’s a gap near the tracks that lets miners set carts and other items aside so other carts can move along the rails.
“I’m gonna take you guys to this area, which is kind of like a little storage area. And that’s where this has been happening,” the man said. Other sounds echoed inside the mine, like the hum of fans, which he said were installed to keep the tunnels ventilated.
Strange music from the mine
“Please, if you have any explanation for this, please leave it in the comments,” he said. The man came up to the storage area, a narrow side space.
“Now, this happens every time. I’m gonna move past the threshold into this area and listen to what happens,” he said. After crossing two poles, a static noise came through. Shortly after, old music started playing in the background. When the man stepped out of the threshold, the music stopped.
“It stops as soon as I come out here. There’s nothing in here. There’s no one within miles of me, so there’s no radios, there’s no cars, or computers, or any kinds of frequency,” he claimed. To prove his point, the man stepped back inside. A different tune started playing, but it had the same old qualities that made it sound as though it was being played from a gramophone.
The internet is divided over this miner
This was the only clip posted from Miner Discoveries, and it went viral on social media, amassing more than 1.3 million views. Social media commenters were divided, with some skeptical of the man’s claim. Some believe the video has been edited and that the man edited the audio.
Despite the disbelief, some others are entertaining the mystery. Some social media users suggested he leave his phone and walk out the door to see if the music would stop. Others say it could be “trapped radio waves,” but that theory is unconfirmed. Meanwhile, one commenter joked, “From my gaming experience, there’s a quest behind that wall.” But this miner isn’t the only one reeling from an unexplained mystery. Another woman from New Orleans said that after refueling at her local Costco, her mechanic found something else in her fuel tank.
