This one’s for you LARPers looking for a sci-fi boffer out there (is sci-fi larp a thing?). There’s a Kickstarter currently going featuring a battle-safe foam lightsaber that makes noise, changes color, and even glows.
There’s a ton of options to choose from, and as expected: these things ain’t cheap. You can expect one of the standard glowy ones to set you back about $210–that’s without sound. If you want the whole shebang (lights, sound, etc.), you can expect to drop about $385. It’s a pretty decent jump from most other fancy “boffer” swords out there, which will run you a little less than $200.
Still. You can’t really put a price on a foam lightsaber that you can beat your friends up with. Imagine being that person walking out onto the LARP battlefield dressed as a gosh darn Jedi or Sith and everyone else has got medieval armor on.
