Here Are the Latest Rumors About All the Upcoming Marvel Films

Please let the Keanu Reeves one be true!

We’re not going to get any real announcements from Marvel about Phase 4 until either SDCC or D23, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from churning out constant “leaks” and rumors. From alleged lists of all upcoming films to possible casting choices, here are two of the biggest rumors circling about the MCU’s future.

The Eternals is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s more interesting films. With an (mostly unconfirmed) cast of Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Madden, and Ma Dong-Seok, there’s a new name being added to the rumor mill. John Wick himself, Keanu Reeves, is rumored to be in talks for a role in the film. Again, for the third time, this is a rumor that is unconfirmed by any major source or by Marvel itself. But still, it’s a good rumor.

If Reeves were to join any Marvel franchise, he’d be a great fit for the cosmic fun of The Eternals. Centered on a group of highly powered cosmic beings protecting Earth, Reeves would be perfect as an immortal cosmic warrior kicking serious ass. I also saw several Marvel fans on Twitter saying that Reeves could also make an incredible Silver Surfer, which I definitely agree with.

The Eternals will really help open up the cosmic parts of the MCU introduced in films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. We’ve talked about Galactus possibly being introduced or teased in the film, and the Silver Surfer would be a great way to lead into his introduction. It would also provide Reeves with a meatier role that isn’t just a one-off, stunt casting type thing.

We don’t know for sure who Reeves will be playing, or even if this isn’t just a wild rumor. Still, if Reeves is joining the MCU, let him get a really good role that fits his talents.

Another major rumor is the possible leak of all the upcoming MCU films, as posted by The Independent via a Twitter account linked to a Roger Wardell. Wardell accurately leaked multiple Avengers: Endgame plot points back in December, so many Marvel fans consider him a trusted source.

The films Wardell alleges are in motion are Black Widow, The Eternals, Black Panther 2, Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange 2, Nova, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. There are also allegedly plans for additional Thor, Ant-Man, and Captain Marvel sequels and possibly New Avengers, Young Avengers and Dark Avengers films. Are these legit or just wishful thinking of our dreams made manifest?

This actually lines up with a lot of the films that more reliable sites have sourced are in motion. We know Black Widow and The Eternals are in the works, and Shang-Chi has been long rumored. Guardians 3 is confirmed with the rehiring of James Gunn, and Black Panther 2 and Doctor Strange 2 make sense based on fan response to the characters. Nova is the only outlier, but I had previously seen reports across Twitter that it was under consideration.

Wardell, whose information about Endgame was mostly on the nose, might be a fairly credible source. This does line up with some of the other “leaks” on Reddit, and while I would take them with a Titan-sized grain of salt, it’s still worth examining. It wouldn’t surprise me if Marvel alternates new character films with some returning characters for a while, and builds up to the next team up film.

Do you think the rumors hold any ground? Are you hoping Reeves joins the MCU as a kickass hero or villain? Let us know in the comments!
