Man’s edible kicks in at the Best Buy counter over a stranger’s orange pants. Then his girlfriend sends him to the car on ‘time out’

A man’s routine trip to Best Buy to get his AirPods fixed took a hilariously unexpected turn due to a delayed reaction to cannabis. While he agreed to go on the errand thinking the edibles didn’t affect him, it eventually led to an uncontrollable laughing fit in the checkout line.
Creator Josh (@joshbuffcomedy) recounted the incident in a TikTok video. He explained that he agreed to accompany his girlfriend to Best Buy to get his malfunctioning AirPods replaced. Before leaving the house, he had taken a cannabis edible that did not appear to produce any immediate effects.
But once he was inside the store, the delayed onset took hold abruptly. He said he ended up drawing the attention of employees, shoppers, and security while laughing uncontrollably at the counter.
Delayed edibles took effect while waiting in the checkout queue
According to Josh, the chain of events began earlier at home after a friend offered him the edible. After waiting roughly 30 minutes without noticing any change, he assumed it wasn’t working and agreed to run the errand with his partner.
However, while the couple waited in line, Josh said the full effects hit all at once. His attention was immediately drawn to the customer standing directly ahead of them, who happened to be wearing bright orange pants. Best Buy lines have gone viral before, as one four-hour Switch 2 wait showed.
Finding the choice of clothing intensely amusing, Josh began laughing aloud and struggled to regain his composure. Despite his girlfriend repeatedly asking him to quiet down, he was unable to suppress his reaction.
“I just kept laughing at his orange pants, because like, where the hell do you buy orange pants?” Josh recalled in the video. “And my girl’s like, ‘Josh, stop.’ I’m like, ‘I’m cool, I’m cool.’ She’s like, ‘Josh, stop.’”
Store security started keeping a close eye on him
By the time the couple reached the register, Josh was still laughing and couldn’t explain the problem with his earbuds to the cashier. The disruption reportedly drew the attention of surrounding patrons and store staff. AirPods trouble at a store counter can go sideways in other ways too, as one man’s Target AirPods return showed.
As Josh continued to struggle with his speech, he said security guards moved in to monitor the situation. “I’m trying to explain to this guy what’s wrong with my AirPods, but I couldn’t get it out! I couldn’t stop laughing! So everybody in the store thought I was tweaking… even the security guards came closer to me, like there’s two on each side of me.”
Soon, Josh’s girlfriend realized that the transaction could not proceed smoothly with him at the counter. So, she instructed him to leave the floor and wait in the parking lot. “My girl sent me to the car. So I’m basically on time out,” he joked.
Sitting in the passenger seat while his partner finished the transaction inside, Josh closed his video by saying the public embarrassment was a reminder of why he steers clear of edibles.
