Man kisses his girlfriend of 3 years good luck before her exam. Then she flees their home on a cruise with her ex: ‘Never get closure’
He wished her luck, not knowing he'd need some himself

Breaking up after three years together is hard enough. But imagine kissing your partner goodbye in the morning, only to discover hours later that they’ve disappeared from your life. One man experienced exactly that, without even getting a breakup conversation.
Some people find out their partners have been living a double life. Others get blindsided by unusual ways of ending relationships. But leaving someone you share a home with, without saying a word, takes things to another level.
For TikTok creator Andy (@andyluisz), that meant losing his high school sweetheart after three and a half years together. In a video with 1.7 million views, he recalled how his girlfriend left their home one morning and later appeared on a cruise with her ex-boyfriend. Nearly a decade later, he still hasn’t received an explanation.
He had no idea what was coming
Andy, now 28, was just 19 when the incident happened. He described his former girlfriend as exceptionally intelligent, claiming she had received acceptances from universities including Harvard and Yale. She was also his first serious girlfriend, and the two had built much of their lives around each other.
After seven months of dating, Andy moved into her family’s home because his own family was relocating from Miami. They eventually began sharing expenses while attending college and working. According to Andy, they traveled together, met each other’s families, and had no obvious problems in their relationship.
Then came an ordinary Monday morning. His girlfriend had an exam at Florida International University, so he kissed her goodbye and wished her luck before leaving for work. He expected to hear from her afterward, but his messages went unanswered.
Around 1 p.m., her mother called asking whether he’d spoken to her daughter. Andy hadn’t, but assumed she was still taking the exam or had forgotten her phone. An hour later, her mother called again, this time asking whether they’d argued. She insisted he come home immediately.
Andy initially feared something terrible had happened. He contacted his girlfriend’s sister-in-law while driving home and learned that she had apparently left. She had taken very little clothing and abandoned her phone and car.
At home, he found her phone on their bed. On it was an unfinished message addressed to him: “Andy when you get here uh I won’t be home I need to find myself.”
But the situation became even more confusing. His girlfriend later posted on Snapchat from a cruise with her first boyfriend.
Andy explained that what hurt most wasn’t simply the breakup. It was never having the opportunity to understand why she left. Since their goodbye kiss that morning, the two have reportedly never exchanged another word.
“It sucks to never get closure,” Andy admitted, explaining that the experience left him with serious abandonment and trust issues. In subsequent relationships, he struggled to believe people would stay, constantly fearing that someone else might suddenly disappear.
Viewers were shocked by the story, with several arguing that what happened went beyond ghosting. “This wasn’t ghosting, this was straight up abandonment,” one person commented. Another agreed, writing, “ghosting out of a relationship when you live with someone is devious work.”
Others shared equally painful experiences. “I got ghosted by my ex of 5 years, we lived together and everything. Completely left me broken,” one viewer revealed. Another wrote, “I was ghosted by my partner of eight years, woke up one day and within a couple hours he disappeared, was gone never saw him again. It’s been four years.”
Some questioned the girlfriend’s mother. “Her mom knew…” one speculated. Another wrote, “That is disgusting. Who tf does that to someone they’re living with????”
For Andy, the experience changed how he approached relationships. He concluded that even after years together, people can suddenly decide they want a different life, without including their partner in it. And sometimes, the person left behind never gets to know why.
