Warner Bros Announces 3D Looney Tunes Shorts

This Makes Sense

The Looney Tunes are back! Or at least, they will be soon. Warner Bros announced today their plan to release three new 3D theatrical shorts featuring Looney Tunes characters. The shorts will be released over the next year, and two of them will feature the voice of the late Mel Blanc (from songs recorded by Capitol Records in the 1950s), the legendary voice actor and comedian responsible for voicing the characters of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylverster the Cat, Tweety Bird, Speedy Gonzalez, Elmer Fudd, and…you get the picture.

The three new shorts are all directed by Matthew O’Callaghan. Who also directed The Great Mouse Detective. Which hopefully means this will be kind of great. According to the press release, here’s a rundown of the shorts:

  • Daffy’s Rhapsody, in which the somehow-still-persistent Elmer Fudd chases Daffy on-stage during a musical performance. Features Blanc performing the song “Daffy Duck’s Rhapsody.” Due in theatres with Happy Feet 2 on November 18th.
  • I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Cat features Sylverster the Cat chasing Tweety Bird around Granny’s apartment. Features a song of the same name.
  • Untitled Coyote and Road Runner features the coyote continuing in his chase of the road runner. Will he finally catch him? (No, he won’t)

Wow, these predators are really persistent.
