James Charles crashes out on a struggling woman

James Charles in hot water after bashing a woman asking for donations after she lost her job

Beauty influencer James Charles had a lot of not-so-beautiful things to say about a struggling woman who got laid off from work at Spirit Airlines. Instead of ignoring a message from the random internet user, Charles felt the need to put her on blast for setting up a GoFundMe after losing her job.

Charles posted a now-deleted TikTok video, where he expressed frustration with the woman who messaged him. He mimicked the content of the message.

“Good morning, James. I know you’ll probably never see this, but if you could take just one minute to read, it would mean a lot to me. I’m really struggling right now because Spirit Airlines just filed for bankruptcy and I have lost my job,” Charles read in a mocking tone. These were the contents of the alleged message. According to Charles, a GoFundMe link was attached to the message.

“You know what else would help you? Getting another job. Try that, because in the time it took you to copy-paste the same fuck-ass message to me, who you don’t follow, by the way, and probably a hundred other influencers and celebrities, you could have applied for a hundred other jobs,” Charles said in a rant. In what appears to be blind rage, he assumed that the woman was merely asking for donations without looking for a job.

He proceeded to call her a “lazy piece of shit” and “entitled,” an opinion he was abundantly comfortable expressing for an influencer who blends powders on his face for a living.

James Charles talks about “the real world” as if he lives in it

“Welcome to the real world, sweetheart! People lose their jobs every fucking day, and you’re white, pretty, and able-bodied. You’re in a much better position than a lot of other people out here trying—clearly—much harder to make a better life for themselves,” Charles said. Interestingly, he felt the need to point out that the woman is just one of 17,000 people who lost their job at Spirit Airlines to diminish her struggle.

As if being one out of 17,000 makes the case any less tragic. If anything, the massive figure only amplifies the tragedy.

“I get at least one percent respect for the mentality of ‘closed mouths don’t get fed. It doesn’t hurt to try.’ But honestly? It does hurt to try because now you’ve pissed me off.” Charles also sarcastically remarked for the woman to “find MrBeast” and suggested she join one of his game shows.

But social media bit Charles hard over his disparaging comments.

One X user wrote, “talking about the “real world” when losing your job in this economy might literally lead to homelessness and bankruptcy. what a disgusting pig.”

Another social media user said, “he’s a rich influencer living in his LA mansion who lives off of brand deals and doesn’t actually have to do real work in his entire life. piece of shit.”

Due to this controversy, social media has also brought back the previous grooming allegations against Charles. The issue serves as a reminder of why the influencer has fallen into obscurity.

It costs nothing to be a decent person

Regardless of his alleged crimes and misgivings, James Charles is a successful influencer who lives in a $7 million mansion in Los Angeles. For someone who has an immense amount of wealth, the last thing anyone would want to hear is for him to rave about “the real world.” A bit of compassion—or at least, patience—for those losing their jobs in this economy would be well-received. Ignoring the message would have been better, as nobody’s required to donate, after all.

Instead, Charles went on an online tirade against a woman who lost her real job in the real world—a decision he clearly thought would be a better use of his time. Charles has since apologized, but social media hasn’t said, “Bye, sister,” to the issue just yet.
