‘It Is That Deep’: Internet Reacts to Husband Who Won YSL Gift Bag Worth Hundreds Only to Give It to Female Co-Worker Instead of His Wife

The people of the internet have come together to express their collective outrage over a husband who allegedly won a very pricey Yves Saint Laurent gift bag worth hundreds of dollars but decided to give it to a female co-worker rather than his wife.
The original post appears to have been shared online by X user @Haleemarh_gumel, however, the post has since been deleted, but screenshots and appalled responses remain. In the post, Gumel claimed that her “marriage was shaken over a makeup kit.”
She went on to elaborate, sharing her supposed story where she claims her husband had attended an employee-only lunch at his company. At the event, he apparently won the expensive makeup gift bag, “The kind of treat any woman would love to get, you know?” Gumel says. However, rather than bring the gift home to his wife, Gumel’s husband handed it to the female co-worker next to him.
Later in the post, she alleged that her husband bragged to her about his kindness, and his company posted a picture of him and his co-workers, commending him for his “generosity.” From her perspective, she says she believes that her husband put his ego over her feelings in that moment.
The internet responds to Gumel’s story
Netizens were quick to take Gumel’s side and decry the husband. “I’m heartbroken for her,” TikToker Bo Grant said of the situation. While some people argued that “it’s not that deep,” Grant argued that it is: “She is having to ask someone who is always at the forefront of her mind why she is not always at the forefront of his mind.”
Commenters on Grant’s video speculated even further, theorizing over the nature of the relationship between the husband and his co-worker: “what did his co-worker do for him[?]” asked one person. Others outright said that the husband “likes her,” with “her” being the co-worker. Meanwhile, a third person said, “If I was his co-worker I would’ve ask[sic] him if he was sure his wife wouldn’t want the gift basket.”
Another TikTok post sharing screenshots of the original post saw more people discuss it. “It is that deep,” one comment reads. Another called the husband’s actions “insensitive.”
In Gumel’s post, she also claims that her husband dismissed her feelings as “just silly jealousy,” but she says she feels betrayed. She says that while he was at work for lunch, “I was at home. Taking care of our son, cleaning the house, preparing his dinner, exhausted.”
Since deleting the post Gumel, has avoided speaking on the matter online. Whether the story was true or not, she certainly seems to have found the support of plenty of people online who understand where she’s coming from.
