[VIDEO] TMS Boldly Goes Through Intrepid’s Starfleet Academy Experience
Paging all Trekkies.
My first introduction into the Star Trek world was The Next Generation and watching Patrick Stewart command the screen like a wise uncle who really loves tea. Since then, I’ve always wondered what it was like to actually be on the bridge. Sure you can Photoshop yourself in pictures and visit the captain’s chair at a booth during a convention, but there’s nothing like being fully immersed in that world. That’s why I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space museum’s Star Trek: The Starfleet Academy Experience in New York City.
This unique exhibit offers up a chance to test your skills in the different areas of Starfleet: medical, communications, science, engineering, tactical, navigation and, of course, command. I had the opportunity to walk through and try my hand at a Klingon linguistics test, a simulator where I navigated the Enterprise through different obstacles, and even shot a phaser. Plus, the exhibit features a wide variety of costumes from the different TV series so you can see your favorite Star Trek uniforms up close and personal. But don’t take my word for it, check out the video above!
Hurry, the exhibit goes way after October 31. For more information or to book your tickets, head over to the Intrepid’s website.
