Season 3 of Insecure is on the horizon, and HBO released a new trailer that shows Issa, Molly, and Kelli being single, thirty, and thriving … ish. (Tiffany is pregnant.)
Issa’s been working and saving money, but not enough to get her own place. She’s staying with Daniel, but they’re not sleeping together (yet). Still, it’s a hot summer and everyone looks amazing.Â
While the situation between Issa and Daniel is fuzzy (though it’s pretty clear that their relationship is going to be a bit more than that of platonic roommates), Insecure fans have noticed a conspicuous absence in the trailer: where is Lawrence? The two have split viewers from the beginning, with #TeamIssa and #TeamLawrence feuds heating up with each new episode. Was that heartbreaking montage really the last we’ll see of Issa’s ex?
A few months ago, Jay Ellis revealed that he might not be in the season at all, saying he was “out of the loop”, so it just might be so. How this will change the show, which spent almost as much time developing Lawrence’s storyline as it did Issa’s, we’ll just have to wait and see.
