Idaho Woman Contacts a Cannibal for Research Paper. Then, She Receives a Friend Request From Her Subject. ‘This is Like a Deer Interviewing a Lion’
Bones and All

Growing up, we all heard stories about cannibalism and hoped we would never encounter anyone who practices it. Personally, I’ve come across instances of cannibalism through texts and other media, including audiovisual content, and I find the subject strangely fascinating, especially the psychological aspect. I’m always curious, what really goes on in their minds? Not in those of people from cultures with long-standing traditions of human meat consumption, but those who choose to eat it despite having many other options.
I believe TikTok user @cassdamm, like me, was driven by intense curiosity when she decided to research cannibalism and even interviewed an alleged real cannibal for her paper. Just three days ago, she posted a video on her TikTok saying that she met a cannibal named Kevin through her uncle and interviewed him as part of her research. She mentioned several other things, but the one thing @cassdamm said that caught my attention was that she received a friend request from him afterward, which she accepted by the way.
TikTok user @cassdamm accepted a friend request from a cannibal
As mentioned earlier, just three days ago, @cassdamm uploaded a video to her TikTok where she discussed interacting with and using a supposed cannibal she met through her uncle as a research subject for a paper she needed to write.
Explaining how she met Kevin the cannibal, @cassdamm says in her video that her uncle was in jail at the time, when she was supposed to submit a paper. She decided that her paper would focus on cannibalism. To make her work stand out, @cassdamm wanted to interview a real cannibal but realized that someone who indulges in eating human meat wouldn’t want to be publicly identified, as she would have to include his name and identity in her paper.
@cassdamm reveals that during a phone call with her uncle while he was in jail, she mentioned her research paper and what it was about. Her uncle then said he had befriended a cannibal in prison and suggested she could interview him. Some time later, @cassdamm received a call from Kevin, the cannibal, and was able to interview him thoroughly, gathering all the information needed to get the “perfect score.”
A couple of months after her interview with the alleged cannibal, @cassdamm’s uncle was released from prison. Then, @cassdamm reveals that a month later, she received a Facebook friend request from Kevin, which she accepted, thinking she had made worse choices in her life. Another reason she accepted was that she was 85 percent covered in tattoos, and Kevin had told her he doesn’t like the taste of tattoos, which made her feel safe from being eaten by him.
A lot of people have commented under @cassdamm’s video
@cassdamm’s story about interviewing a cannibal as part of her research is definitely a unique one. Therefore, it goes without saying that it has attracted a lot of attention. As of this writing, her video has more than 2 million likes, along with thousands of comments, shares, and saves. Many commenters mocked @cassdamm for interacting with Kevin and joked that she might end up being his next victim. User @zenith_829 wrote, “this is like a deer interviewing a lion.” User @art2do commented, “You call it FB friends list. Kevin calls it a Menu.”
Some people were also worried about Kevin being released from prison. User @dmc1_unc said, “So your telling us Kevin is just out there.” User @cupcakesrule.86 stated, “why is Kevin… out?”
