Hispanic man was shortchanged at 7-Eleven. Then the worker turns it into a showdown and calls ICE: ‘Recorded my car’

He only wanted his change back

Getting the wrong change should be easy to fix. However, one California customer claims a simple complaint at 7-Eleven ended with a police call and an alleged threat to contact immigration authorities.

The missing receipt made things worse. Instead of resolving the issue, the worker allegedly followed him outside and photographed his car. All this over a few dollars.

TikTok user Kevin Aguilar (@user062791634) shared footage of the encounter at a 7-Eleven in Menifee, California. He claims he paid $20 for a drink but received only $12 in change and no receipt. When he returned to complain, the worker called police and allegedly threatened to contact ICE.

The situation only got worse

Aguilar explained that he noticed the problem after returning to his van and counting his money. He went back inside the store at 30107 Antelope Road and asked the cashier to retrieve his transaction. However, she insisted she could not find his purchase in the system, even after checking multiple transactions.

In the footage, Aguilar questions why the employee cannot pull up his receipt. The disagreement escalates when she calls the police and asks for help removing him from the store. She tells the dispatcher that he bought something, left, and returned, claiming she had shortchanged him.

Part 2 Sorry if I don’t make sense I was mad in this video but trying to stay calm and no I did not record the part where she said she’s going to call ICE on me. She followed me outside and took a picture of my license plate. *30107 Antelope Rd Menifee, CA 92584

The worker also complains about being filmed. “Now the idiot is recording me,” she tells the dispatcher while describing the situation. She claims Aguilar is yelling at her, although he can be heard questioning her account and asking about his missing change.

The conversation takes a different turn when the employee describes Aguilar as Hispanic and estimates that he is in his 20s. “So now you’re being racial?” he responds. Aguilar then identifies himself by his full name and tells her he needs to get to work.

In a second TikTok video, Aguilar recounts what allegedly happened after the confrontation moved outside. “So she came out, recorded my car,” he explains. He claims the employee followed him into the parking lot and photographed his license plate after threatening to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Aguilar acknowledges that he did not record the alleged threat to call ICE. “Sorry if I don’t make sense I was mad in this video but trying to stay calm,” he writes in the caption. He also urges viewers to avoid the store, identifying its location near Scott Road.

The encounter drew mixed reactions from viewers, with some questioning the cashier’s handling of the transaction. “Pull the camera footage from the store and see how much change she gave you,” one commenter suggested. Another wrote, “She can count down the drawer and it will tell if she gave the wrong change. And she can also recall a transaction and print receipt.”

However, not everyone agreed with Aguilar’s decision to return. “If you didn’t check your change before walking away just take the loss,” one viewer argued. A commenter identifying themselves as a cashier disagreed, writing, “As A cashier this is why you count there change twice, just give the man his 5 bucks.”

Some viewers also criticized the worker’s handling of the situation. “They can watch the cameras…” one commenter wrote. Others urged Aguilar to take further action, with one suggesting, “I would call the manager.”

The alleged use of ICE threats against Hispanic people also drew attention to the employee’s response. While her police call is recorded, Aguilar’s account of the immigration threat has not been independently verified.

It remains unclear whether police arrived at the store or whether Aguilar recovered the disputed money. There is also no confirmed information about any investigation by 7-Eleven or action taken against the employee.
