His best friend asked to move in with him in California, but cut ties instead. 12 years later, he made a grisly discovery
It was unexpected news.

Adam Wright (@coachadamofficial) had a best friend who was supposed to move into his California home. When the plan fell through, he received grisly news about him twelve years later.
“I grew up with this guy,” Wright told TikTok, sharing his unsettling revelation. He claimed that the man has been his best friend throughout school. Wright continued, “But he was part of the reason I joined the army, ’cause he had first.” Even though they both joined, Wright said they were stationed separately. Wright was deployed; meanwhile, his best friend was not.
“After we got out of the army, he was living in Colorado, and I was living in California,” he explained. In 2014, his wife received a random message from a burner account claiming to be his best friend.
“He said that for some reason, could only connect to Wi-Fi, didn’t have his phone or my number,” Wright said. However, the man wanted to meet up and catch up. Wright found the message strange but agreed. He took an hour off work and decided to meet the man. Unlike this woman from Houston, who was jumped and beaten by her friends’ company, Wright was able to meet up with him without a hitch.
Wright caught up with his friend and asked how he was. The last time they met, he claimed that his friend was living with a pothead. Nevertheless, Wright believed he was doing well, even though they hadn’t seen each other in a while. He continued, “He said he dropped out of school and he’d moved to California.” Wright thought it was a spontaneous move but congratulated his friend regardless. Then, the man asked if he could live with him.
Abruptly losing his best friend
Wright was already married, and he told his best friend that he’d have to ask his wife if she would be amenable to letting him live with them. They had an extra bedroom, and Wright left him with a ‘maybe.’
Wright said that the proposal initially weirded out his wife. Still, Wright’s wife wanted to meet up to get to know him first and make sure no drugs were involved. People who are battling addiction can be difficult to rein in, as explained by this woman from Philadelphia who became homeless because of her drug problem. To avoid that issue, Wright and his wife set up a meeting for dinner. They agreed to go to a restaurant, and the couple waited for him. However, Wright said his best friend never showed up.
Wright messaged his friend, who allegedly replied that his plans had changed and he now intended to live with his parents in Washington instead. A few weeks later, his best friend texted him again, allegedly saying he wanted to end their friendship.
Dodging a bullet
“He never responded to my response, and that was the last that I heard from him,” Wright said. Twelve years later, in September 2026, Wright got a call from a mutual friend. They asked Wright if he’d seen a video they sent, and Wright said no. Then, they explained that Wright’s best friend allegedly killed a woman in New Mexico.
“In that video, I saw his mugshot, which was the first time I’d seen his face in twelve years,” Wright claimed. He said his best friend allegedly got upset with his upstairs neighbor because water was dripping from her patio onto his. The woman complained to the leasing office front desk about alleged harassment she received from Wright’s best friend. As she was leaving, Wright said that his best friend allegedly stabbed the woman in broad daylight.
“It is really sad and unfortunate. But that is how I found out that my best friend is a killer,” Wright said.
