‘Got a honeymoon to catch’: Couple face early test of their marriage as they race through airport in bid to catch plane after they missed their flight
A newlywed couple’s honeymoon plans were almost completely derailed after they missed their first flight. In dramatic footage shared on TikTok, the husband and wife appear to be on the verge of tears as they rebook their flight but realize they might miss their connection to St. Lucia. What follows is an intense race through the airport to make it in time, in what they called a perfect story to tell their kids one day.
TikToker Macey Mexico and her husband arrived at the airport only to find that they had missed their flight. The video shows the distraught couple speaking to an airport receptionist who tells them they have missed the flight and that she will have to rebook them. “Is there anything you can do because we’re on our honeymoon?” Macey asks, but unfortunately there is nothing the receptionist can do, leaving the couple questioning whether they’ll make the St. Lucia flight.
After catching the first flight, Macey documented her and her husband’s desperate plight as they sprinted out of the airplane and ran through the airport to try to make their connection. The couple are out of breath and exhausted by the time they reach the board to find their gate, but they keep going.
As they wait on the train, Macey confidently tells her husband, “We’re going to make it,” to which he responds, “I love your optimism, baby.” The couple is first off the train and up the escalator, apologizing to the people they brush past while the husband explains, “We’ve got a honeymoon to catch.”
A true test of their relationship
Despite being exhausted and stressed, the couple successfully made it ” by a hair ” to the gate. Viewers on TikTok commended the couple for working together as a team: “A problem came up, you both worked together, supported each other, and won the game,” said one commenter. “If you are not fighting then it was a match made in heaven,” another agreed.
Of course, it wasn’t quite a perfect ending for the couple, as some commenters claimed that they would likely have no luggage when they landed: “You know what sprinting to your next gate means? No luggage when you land,” wrote one commenter. Another person responded, “I’d rather wait a couple hours or a day for my luggage than miss a flight.”
Others claimed it was Macey and her husband’s fault for missing their first flight, although the reason for them having to re-book the flight was not explained in the video, so it’s unclear who was at fault. In a comment, Macey wrote that she would “be in contact with @delta.”
Regardless, the newlywed couple was able to save their honeymoon through teamwork and positivity, proving they have a solid foundation. It makes for a great story.
