TikTok user @morececee uploaded a video to her profile in which she said that her luggage was missing because it was never boarded onto the plane during departure. She mentioned that there was a tornado and thunderstorm warning at her destination on the day of her flight, leading to several airline disruptions. As a result, when she boarded the plane, it waited a significant amount of time to also board standby passengers affected by these disruptions. Cece notes that the whole process extended her journey by several hours, making her feel very uncomfortable.

@morececee complains about American Airlines losing her luggage

Cece mentions in the video that her American Airlines trip was supposed to take three hours but ended up lasting ten. She stated that there were tornado and thunderstorm warnings in her area, but these weren’t the reasons why her journey took so long. Pointing out that the airline was “incompetent,” Cece said that after she boarded the plane, she saw standby passengers, whose flights had been disrupted by the bad weather, being allowed on the flight. Cece then mentions that the situation escalated so much that airline workers lost track of the number of people on board and supposedly spent around two and a half hours counting while the plane was on the tarmac.

Additionally, Cece said it was very cold inside the cabin, causing her to shiver. She then noted that despite all these issues, her flight eventually arrived at its destination. However, she apparently received an email upon landing, and when she checked it, she found out that her luggage had been delayed. Talking about the incident, Cece recalls feeling confused about her bag being delayed since she had booked a direct flight.

Cece explained that her bag was delayed because it was put on another flight. The reason, she said, was that the flight she was originally on was too crowded with extra passengers. She said in the video, “I booked my ticket in advance. I had a bag, and it was underweight. They took it off because they put standby people on. So now my bag got put onto another flight that wasn’t landing for another two and a half hours. So American Airlines took my bag off cause they let Steve onto the plane. I was so angry, I thought I could run through a brick wall.”

Cece wraps up her video by saying that the woman who helped her with her bags was very nice. She also mentioned that when she expressed her dislike for American Airlines and said she would rather fly with Frontier or Spirit, the airline staff agreed with her.

People are showing support for @morececee’s TikTok video

TikTok user @morececee’s video, in which she discusses experiencing luggage issues while traveling with American Airlines, may not have gained as much attention as some similar videos usually do, but the discussion around the topic is strong.

People in the comments section of Cece’s post have made some valuable remarks about the issue. User @iamtomijo commented, “At least with Spirit you know what you’re getting. American is an overpriced Spirit. Flew them 1 time. Never again. They ALWAYS have an issue especially if the layover is in Miami.” User @bfrancekk stated, “my experience is few and far between but i have neverrrrrr had an issue with spirit, and i’ve flown w them at least 10 times in the last 6 months. as long as you can fit your stuff in a backpack, it’s a breeze w them (imo).” Cece also made some comments about the issue in the comments section, mainly following up on what she said in the video. In one comment she said, “AlSOOO the ticket kiosks were all broken and almost made me miss the damn flight.” In another she wrote, “Like you just???? TOOK MY BAG OFF?????”

What can one do in the case of delayed baggage on an American Airlines flight?

According to official American Airlines guidance, if passengers cannot locate their bags after landing, they should file a report before leaving the airport.

For domestic flights within the U.S., delayed baggage must be reported within 4 hours of arrival at the destination, or within 12 hours if Bags VIP Luggage Delivery was used. For international flights, delayed baggage reports are required upon arrival and before departing the airport.
