Today is Anne of Green Gables author Lucy Maud Montgomery’s 141st birthday! To celebrate, Google doodler Olivia Huynh honored Montgomery with several doodles of red-haired Anne Shirley, including an adorable animation of Anne turning green as she eats a cake she baked with liniment instead of vanilla.

As a celebrated novelist, Montgomery was an Officer of the Order of the British Empire and the first Canadian woman to be named a fellow of the British Royal Society of Arts. Her books have sold more than 50 million copies to date and have been translated into about 20 languages.
