The Weirdest Dating Sim of the Year Lets You Romance Bugs Voiced by an ‘Attack on Titan’ Star

Today’s dating scene might bug plenty of people – literally. A Japanese pest control company has announced that they’ll be launching a dating simulator with a creepy, crawly twist: your boyfriend is a cockroach.

Earth Corporation’s Gokigen Lovely Days is free to play, featuring the voice talents behind one of anime’s most lionized characters – Eren Yaeger. Yuki Kaji voices each bug boy, though this dating sim might not be for every lonely heart. Before players enter the game, they’re met with a questionable warning. “This game contains strongly shocking content. If you are uncomfortable with such content, or have a weak heart, please refrain from playing,” the disclaimer reads, preparing anyone brave enough to check one of the most surprising games of 2026 so far.

Players must forcefully end their relationship with their cockroach crushes, as Gokigen Lovely Days offers a can of bug spray to each player as a direct solution for each quarrel they may have with their beloved. Kaji spoke up about his experience of voicing each character within the dating simulator. In an interview with ITMedia, he said, “It was (probably) my first time playing four different characters by myself, but I made sure to analyze them carefully to bring out their individual personalities. A thrilling love story awaits you, in many ways, as is typical of Earth Pharmaceutical. Please put on your earphones and experience it for yourself!”

Dating Sims Have Introduced Stranger Concepts Before

My Horse Prince is a weird dating simulator about an anime girl and the horse-boy she loves

If Gokigen Lovely Days isn’t strange enough, Uma no Prince-Sama plays with the same concept of dating anthropomorphic beast boys. “Fed up with your uneventful life in the city, you (name changeable) decide to visit a local horse ranch in search of good-looking guys!” The official synopsis reads, “But, who should you meet at that peaceful ranch, why a horse with a human face… In this delightfully absurd free-to-play otome game, you can live out your wildest romantic fantasies with your very own bishie-faced horse prince!”

With otome games becoming more popular by the day, there’s bound to be risks taken with just how gamers can fall in love with the man of their dreams — even if they’re not always completely human. For those who preferred fine-feathered companions (in the same way that Nikola Tesla did), perhaps they’d rather fall for a pigeon in Hatoful Boyfriend.

Not interested in animalistic romance? Souji Souai Love internalizes the notion that love is blind by allowing gamers to date cleaning supplies in the form of idols. For those who are more attracted to women, they’ve got Panzermadels: Tank Dating Simulator to tear through, where tanks take on the form of Japanese schoolgirls. There’s truly no telling what dating simulator might release next, or what it may feature.

Gokigen Lovely Days is now free to play.
