Pass Go, Collect Real Money in Monopoly Boxes in France for the Game’s Anniversary

Well, Euros always kind of looked like Monopoly money anyway.

In France, 80 boxes of Monopoly will ship with real money in addition to the fake money needed to actually play the game. It’s nice of them to still include the game money, but I don’t think anyone would mind if they had to go buy a second box of Monopoly to both play the game and spend their free cash.

The real money editions will commemorate the game’s 80th anniversary, since it is one of the most popular board games in France, according to Yahoo. Meanwhile, in The Mary Sue offices, polite society nearly crumbled around us the last time we tried to play, so tread carefully, France.

Seventy-nine of the special game boxes will hold modest amounts of cash while one of them will contain the entire game‘s worth of cash in real euros, which equals about $23,600. Just make sure you’re ready to land on that income tax space.
