FIFA Just Tapped Justin Bieber for the First-Ever World Cup Halftime Show, Forcing a Major Change to the Massive Headliner Roster

Let's go.

FIFA just dropped a massive update on the 2026 World Cup Final halftime show, and it’s a game-changer. According to PEOPLE, Justin Bieber is officially joining the lineup as a fourth co-headliner, sharing the stage with Madonna, Shakira, and BTS on July 19, 2026. The announcement, made on July 8, forces a major shake-up to what was already shaping up to be the most star-studded halftime show in sports history.

Bieber, who’s been riding high after his recent Coachella livestream and surprise NHL Draft appearance, didn’t hold back his excitement. “The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way nothing else can,” he said in a statement. “I’m grateful to be part of this Halftime Show, and even more grateful knowing it’s already helping expand access to education for children around the world.”

It’s a big deal for the pop star, who’s been vocal about his support for Team Canada throughout the tournament. Just days ago, he posted on Instagram, “SEND YOUR LOVE AND PRAYERS TO TEAM CANADA. PLAYING NOW #fifaworldcup2026,” as the team faced off against Morocco.

The halftime show will be curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin

It is set to be the most ambitious musical event of the year. Alongside the four headliners, Burna Boy, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS22 Chorus – a group of elementary school students from Staten Island, New York – will also take the stage. FIFA and Global Citizen are framing this as more than just a performance.

The event is tied to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to improve access to education and football for kids worldwide. Every ticket sold to a 2026 World Cup match will donate $1 to the fund, making this halftime show not just a spectacle but a movement.

Hugh Evans, co-founder and CEO of Global Citizen, didn’t mince words about the significance of the moment. “This is the single largest gathering of artists united for a cause since Live Aid, and it could well be the most-watched 11 minutes of broadcast music performance in history,” he said.

“This is a moment that will bring the world together through music, hope, and action.” With the final set to kick off at 3 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the pressure is on to deliver something unforgettable.

Shakira, who’s no stranger to World Cup performances, is already teasing what’s to come

According to Billboard, in a recent interview, pop music icon Shakira called the halftime show “pretty historic” and admitted she’s still figuring out how to make her part stand out. “I played at the inauguration, and now I’m playing at the final,” she said. “I’ve got to wrap my head around it, make it a little different from what I did at the inauguration.”

She also gave a shoutout to the other performers, saying, “Madonna is going to be there, BTS, Bieber, Coldplay. I really hope that Chris Martin is going to be singing too.” Her excitement is palpable, and she’s not alone. The entire lineup seems to be in creative overdrive, trying to top what’s already an insane roster.

For Shakira, this isn’t just about the performance – it’s also a career milestone. Her collaboration with Burna Boy Dai Dai (FIFA World Cup Official Song 2026), just spent its second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart.

It’s the first official World Cup anthem to ever top that ranking, and it’s also climbing the Billboard Global 200, currently sitting at No. 3. The song’s success is a testament to how deeply the World Cup has embedded itself in global culture this year, and the halftime show is poised to take that connection to the next level.

Bieber’s addition to the lineup is the cherry on top of an already stacked roster

The pop star has been everywhere lately, from his Coachella livestream on YouTube to his surprise appearance at the NHL Draft, where he announced the Toronto Maple Leafs’ first overall pick. His energy is infectious, and his ability to command a stage is undeniable. If anyone can hold their own alongside music superstars like BTS and Madonna, it’s him.

The halftime show is shaping up to be a once-in-a-lifetime event, blending sports, music, and philanthropy in a way never seen before. With $1 from every ticket sold going toward education initiatives, this isn’t just about entertainment but about making a difference. And with an 11-minute performance set to be broadcast to millions, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

For fans, the question isn’t just who will steal the show but how these artists will collaborate. Will we get a surprise duet between Bieber and BTS? A Madonna-Shakira mashup? The possibilities are endless, and the hype is real. One thing’s for sure: this halftime show is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen. July 19 can’t come soon enough.
