The Terminator Reboot Casts Emilia Clarke As Our New Sarah Connor

HBO’s Game of Thrones can now boast two Sarah Connors in their cast.

Her name first arose in early November for the role and while other names followed (Tatiana Maslany, Brie Larson), it seemed inevitable to me Emilia Clarke would play Sarah Connor. Mostly for the name she’s made for herself playing Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, but also because a GoT director (Alan Taylor) is set to lead the reboot.

Although they don’t film the series together, I can imagine Clarke’s GoT co-star Lena Headey will be giving her at least a few words of advice. Headey played a fantastic Sarah Connor on Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles for two seasons.

While Jason Clarke (no relation, though it’s a fun coincidence) is still negotiating to play her son, John Connor, we’re not sure where this new film will take us. Especially considering we’ve also got a new Terminator TV show in the works which is meant to tie-in to the reboot trilogy somehow. With Clarke’s busy GoT schedule, this also presumably means they need to cast another actress to play Sarah in the TV series. I wouldn’t be surprised if that one skewed younger.

Deadline says they’ve heard the film’s story “involved a trip into the future,” but that’s not surprising considering what we’ve seen from the sci-fi franchise in the past. Will Sarah actually get to see her son as the leader of the resistance for the first time?
