‘Educate your employees’: Woman calls out Delta after she’s told she can’t bring breast pump bag on flight because she’s not with her child

Flying can be stressful, especially when some airline staff make things harder rather than easier. One woman on TikTok has called on Delta Airlines to “do better” after she got into an argument with one of their gate agents who told her she would not be able to bring her breast pump aboard the plane despite Delta’s own policies allowing it.
TikToker “jetlagjordy” recorded the interaction with Delta staff and shared it on TikTok. The argument has since gone viral, with the video receiving almost three million views in a day. In the video, the employee can be heard telling Jordy that the issue is that she was not travelling with an infant. She claimed that passengers are only allowed to bring breast pumps on board if they are traveling with a child.
Jordy argued that it didn’t make any sense, telling the worker, “If I was traveling with an infant, I wouldn’t need a breast pump.”
In the video, she also provided viewers with a screenshot of the policies on the Delta Airlines website, which contradicts what the employee at the airport told her. “No, you don’t have to have your baby with you to bring a breast pump and associated cooler bag on Delta flights.” According to the Delta site, passengers are allowed to bring them as additional free carry-on items “beyond your regular one bag allowance.”
Jordy tells Delta to do better
The Delta worker continued to argue with Jordy, telling her that she needs to check the bag despite the airline policy contradicting her claims. Ultimately, the mother resigns herself to the situation, telling her, “It’s just ridiculous. Okay, well, then we need to check this bag because I need to get on this f—ing plane.”
Jordy called on the airline to “do better,” and viewers agreed that Delta needed to train its staff better so that situations like this one don’t happen again. Some claimed that the employee was simply on a “power trip,” while others believed she may have been genuinely ignorant about the policies of the company she worked for.
Other commenters claimed that not being able to pump could result in mastitis. Others suggested that Jordy sue the airline. Many also tagged Delta in order to try and force the company to respond; meanwhile, others went directly to the company’s social media accounts to comment, but so far Delta has remained silent.
It’s important to ensure that staff are trained and aware of company policies. While the customer may not always be right, in this case she very much was, and the employee was the one making the mistake.
